What comes to mind when you hear the word "pivot"? Living in South Georgia, my thoughts immediately go to irrigation pivots—those large sprinklers spraying the fields, a familiar sight as I drive past miles of farmland. Some days they stand still, waiting for the right moment to work. Other days, they move steadily, delivering life-giving water to the crops below.
Recently, I started reading The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest, a daily devotional offering encouragement in our ever-changing world. Inspired by this, I’ve come to think of this year as my own Pivot Year—a time of intentional change and growth.
Like those irrigation pivots, I’ve realized the importance of staying grounded in something solid while exploring new directions. Whether it’s faith, family, or another source of stability, having a firm foundation allows us to move with confidence. A pivot doesn’t remain stuck in one place—it moves with intention, covering new ground while staying rooted in something solid.
This year, I’ve embraced the idea of “sprinkling joy” and positivity as I move through my journey. I look forward to coaching others through pivotal life moments like entering adulthood, changing careers, or rediscovering purpose. Change can feel overwhelming, but with the right tools, confidence and clarity emerge. Together, we can navigate these transitions and create a path forward.
Like the irrigation pivot, we’re not meant to stay in one place. Growth happens as we move, explore, and share our gifts along the way. For me, this Pivot Year is about embracing change, nurturing others, and finding joy in the journey. Let’s move forward together.
